Apartments Living in Nevada

"The Silver State" of Nevada is known for its riches. Folks have been striking it rich here since the mid-1800s, when the richest silver deposit was first discovered. Today, risk-takers hit the jackpot daily in the gambling capital of America, Las Vegas. A majority of Nevada's landscape is uninhabited desert, with over 80 percent of the land federally owned and operated for and by the military. Even so, there are plenty of apartments to choose from, in and around the popular, urban cities of Las Vegas and Reno.

As the seventh largest state in area, Nevada is a dry state with loads of sunshine and natural wonders that attract thousands to its many beautiful landmarks like Lake Mead, Lake Tahoe and Death Valley National Park. Tourism is a major factor for the economy and employs a large number of the locals. Agriculture, primarily cattle, hay, alfalfa seed and wheat are key contributors as well. Natural resources such as silver, gold and mercury are still big moneymakers too, but gambling is the state's key source of revenue.

While to some, the inside of a casino may be the only major site they wish to take in, Nevada is a great state for career-minded, average income families and retirees wishing to enjoy the comfortable climate and find their perfect happily-ever-after home or apartment. The cost of living is below the national average and that combined with no state income tax, makes this state prime for affordable housing. The majority of apartment listings are located in the Las Vegas and Reno areas. Reno was once the gambling capital of the U.S before the late 1950s and before Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Apartments

Las Vegas is the state's largest city and is one of America's fastest-growing regions. A half a million fortune-seekers call the metropolitan area home. The "entertainment capital of the world" is thriving with new employment opportunities, which in turn, is creating a construction boom of new houses and apartments. The cost of living is being reported at 20 percent below the national average. Apartment prices are on the rise in Las Vegas and it has been reported that a one-bedroom apartment will cost around $790 and up. The big cities of Henderson and Paradise are also located in the Las Vegas metro area and are equally popular places for apartments.

Reno Apartments

"The biggest little city in the world" is the second biggest city in Nevada. Reno is located in Nevada's northern region and less than thirty miles from the state's capital of Carson City. "Renoites" also enjoy their share of gambling, complete with fancy hotels and casinos. The oldest university in the state, University of Nevada, is located in Reno, placing a demand for apartments in this city. For those who want to escape the classes, casinos or their apartments, they can find solace at nearby Lake Tahoe with its year-round activities of skiing in both water and snow. Prices for apartments in this striking region are equally attractive and average around the $750 mark.
