Dunwoody is part of the Atlanta area; it's about 17 miles north of downtown, which is about a 30 minute to an hour drive, depending on traffic. It's near the major transportation route of 400 and Interstate 285.
The major roads through Dunwoody are Mt Vernon Road, and Shallowford Road. Dunwoody is connected to Atlanta via the north line of the MARTA train. About 33,000 people call Dunwoody
home. Of these, about 85% are white, 8% Asian, 5% Hispanic, 4% Black, with a variety of others here and there. Dunwoody is definitely upper class financially. The average household income is about $80,000; for a family the average is about $100,000. It's a popular spot for successful R & B and rap artists to purchase a residence, as Usher and P. Diddy both have residences here.

Dunwoody Park has a nature center with trails in the woods and beside the streams, display gardens, a wetland boardwalk, and a playground-with shade. The Perimeter Center and Mall is a large retail and commercial area, including a number of hotels for out of town guests. Dunwoody Country Club offers fine dining and a private golf course. The Georgia Aquarium, just inside the Atlanta city limits, is the largest in the world, including such exhibits as white sharks and a giant octopus. The Atlanta Zoo includes a panda cub that was born in 2006, gorillas, and a Komodo Dragon.
